What makes the ResMed AirFit F30i different from other full face masks?
The ResMed AirFit F30i features a revolutionary top-of-the-head tube design. Unlike traditional masks that have the tube coming out of the front of the mouth, the F30i routes the air through the frame to the top of your head. This allows you to sleep in any position—including on your side or stomach—without the hose getting tangled. Additionally, its ultra-compact cushion rests under the nose rather than over the bridge, preventing red marks and allowing you to wear glasses or watch TV in bed.
How do I choose the correct size for the AirFit F30i?
Finding the right fit involves two parts: the frame and the cushion.
- Frame Sizing: Most users fit the Standard frame. However, if you have a larger head circumference, a Large frame is available. A Small frame is available for more petite facial structures.
- Cushion Sizing: Place the sizing gauge (available in the documents tab) under your nose. The AirFit F30i cushions come in Small, Medium, Small-Wide, and Wide.
If you are unsure, the “Standard Starter Pack” usually covers the majority of users.
What is the difference between the ResMed AirFit F30 and the AirFit F30i?
While both masks use a similar under-the-nose cushion concept to reduce bulk, the main difference is the tubing connection. The original AirFit F30 connects the hose at the front of the mask (near the mouth). The AirFit F30i connects the hose at the top of the head. The “i” series is designed specifically for active sleepers who move around frequently during the night and want the tubing out of their way.
Is the AirFit F30i compatible with my CPAP machine?
Yes. The ResMed AirFit F30i is compatible with almost all standard CPAP, APAP, and BiLevel machines, including the ResMed AirSense 10 and AirSense 11 series. It connects to any standard ISO 22mm CPAP tubing. Note: If you are using the AirMini Travel CPAP, you will need a specific adapter or standard tubing setup.
Is this mask good for side sleepers?
Absolutely. The AirFit F30i is widely considered one of the best CPAP masks for side sleepers. The flat profile of the frame allows you to lie on your cheek comfortably, and if you block one side of the frame against your pillow, the air automatically redirects through the other side of the frame to ensure continuous therapy.
How do I clean the AirFit F30i?
For optimal hygiene and seal performance:
- Daily: Disassemble the cushion from the frame and wash it with warm water and a mild, fragrance-free detergent. Rinse well and let it air dry away from direct sunlight.
- Weekly: Disassemble the entire mask (frame, elbow, and headgear) and hand wash in warm soapy water.
